Don't you agree that Bowerbirds are pretty much just the garden designers/ landscapers of the bird world? I find the behaviours and rituals of birds so fascinating, but the Satin Bowerbird male collecting everything blue for his bower and attracting his female beauty with COLOUR DESIGN? Amazing.
I have watched these glorious birds in my parents garden, and photographed the most elegant female perched in the trees next to my verandah, so I simply had to add them to my painted collection.
I imagined the birds discovering my flower garden which was blooming all summer with cornflowers, of all shades, and decided those would be the perfect floral match for these two lovebirds- with the blue banded bees buzzing around them of course, because they just fit perfectly with the colour scheme!
